The first official presentation of AIP students to society is not just a graduation condition; it's also an artistic coming-of-age celebration that spans both the end and the beginning of students' careers.
Knowing the world and being innocence
Students at AIP are encouraged to listen to a variety of speakers, observe more social occurrences, consider the nature of things, and experiment freely. To gain a better understanding of the world while remaining faithful to their own beliefs. The gradshow named "Start From Here" will be the students' final interaction with society at AIP, as well as their last chance to examine themselves during their high school years.
Standing with aesthetics
In the grad show, the students take their inner thoughts and sublimate them into their own aesthetic propositions through their creations.They not only have a strong opinion on external beauty and ugliness, but they are also interested in learning how to touch another person's heart and influence everyone's life. Such a spiritual palace will serve as a strong backbone to help him/her to adapt to the life in a diverse and complex foreign country.
History of
Grad Show
2013
In Art School of Central Academy of Fine Arts, we held the first international art and design work exhibition of high school graduates in China, named “start from here”. It was an non-social exhibition, held only on campus.
2015
In AIP, Art school of GAFA, we held the second on-campus exhibition, followed the name of “start from here”.
2016
The first large-scale exhibition officially facing the society was held in the red brick factory.
2017
The fourth exhibition, "re", was held in the university town. At the same time, "start from here" is established as the general term of AIP series exhibitions.
2018
The graduation exhibition of "the nth power of 0" was held in Redtory.
2019
Hold "blooming" graduation exhibition in red brick factory
2020
When the global epidemic broke out, the students regretted that they could not display their works offline, but set up a virtual exhibition hall online. The theme is "Ye".
2021
The graduation exhibition of "extension line" was held in Liwan District.

To complete the teaching of the grad show, AIP students and teachers need to go through several important stages:
1Guidance on theme planning
This involves the research of the current year's students and thinking about the theme and title of the grad show.
2Guidance on visual designing
Students will design the visual communication related to the grad show theme.
3Guidance on space designing
Students will be guided by their tutors to design the flow of the exhibition, the division of space and the format of the display.
4Execution of the exhibition
Students will be involved in the curator team of the exhibition.
The grad show has the same teaching goal as the past 3 years, focusing on developing the following skills.
Exploration and analysis
In the early stage of planning and design, students need to objectively collect information, extract features, formulate exhibition directions and find theme inspiration based on the situation of current students.
Practice and innovation
When transforming the concept of the theme into a more detailed text description, visual elements and space exhibition scheme, students need to balance the novel scheme with whether it can be landed.
Reflection and promotion
In the process of producing ideas, students and tutors need to constantly discuss and evaluate the rationality and reasons of each choice, so as to promote the implementation of the whole exhibition.
Strategy and planning
The curator team needs to see the whole exhibition with a holistic view and systematic thinking, and coordinate, plan and manage every step related to the exhibition around "time".
Collaboration and empathy
Students should always maintain communication and cooperation with each other and assign their respective positions and responsibilities during the exhibition planning process. And put yourself in the shoes of others, rather than focusing on personal display.
Social connection and value
For social exhibitions, students need to communicate directly with those who watch the exhibition and exchange ideas. In this process, we finally understand the value of the graduation exhibition.
