My final major project is called Forced Norms Project. I aim to produce a collection of fashion womenswear design illustration and hopefully,these two garments would display two different appearance.Art and design is always about being honest about ourselves. My starting point of this project reflects my personal experience as a young teenager in a undercover camp in China. The inspiration relates strongly to the expectation of social norms and the frame that restricts our behaviors being in a certain social role. My project is just like a survivor diary, which generates forced distortion to the body, destroys the physical laws, violently restrains bodies conforming to the customized ‘roles’ and ‘norms’, and experiments with the confrontation between body strength and natural pressure. This project required a subjective research method, a clear design logic, independent decision making, and reflective mind thinking which I had developed through this program.
