The inspiration for this piece came from the graduation season, a season that contains so many memories that I wanted to preserve such precious memories or memory carriers, hence the name ‘memory box’.
My intention was for a whole piece to become luminous, and as the translucent material shades, it becomes brighter and brighter as we turn the box, meaning our memories become clearer and clearer. This is because I thought of the dust that accumulates when an object is left unused and forgotten, just like our memories, which get dimmer and dimmer over time when we don’t recall them, or even some unimportant fragments that become blurred like an abstract painting.I have also used dried flowers to symbolize the memory of our youth forever.
